Senatorial Candidate Raffy ALUNAN : We Serve to Save

From his Facebook account, Senatorial Candidate Rafael "Raffy" Alunan III (#3) posted a note of thanks.  The Filipino Nurse.net decided to publish his expression of thanks because we believe that his motto is also our call as nurses : We Serve to Save.

This is Mr. Alunan's note of thanks:

May I take this opportunity to thank all those who've been working very hard to inform voters that I'm a Senatorial candidate and my accomplishments during the presidencies of Cory Aquino and Fidel V. Ramos. Persistence and persuasion will win the day.

I fought crime and corruption in my departments and those under my jurisdictions. Where applicable erring personnel and local officials were suspended, fired and/or charged in court. I fought terror and insurgency, win the peace, uphold the law, save lives and get citizens at risk out of harm's way. I laid mine on the line when I fought for freedom and democracy, and protected it when it came under armed attack.

In the Army, I undertook medical civic action in depressed areas in Metro Manila and Central Luzon in partnership with the pharma industry. I built a search rescue capability in partnership with Triple A contractors and K9 service providers. Salvare Servimus (We Serve to Save) was the motto I chose for the 9th Inf Div Ready Reserve that I commanded.

In the private sector while with the Lopez Group I continued to serve the people through various corporate social responsibility programs - connecting poor communities to the water company I headed; capacitating informal settlers and a fishing community impacted by an oil spill, and advocating responsible parenthood as well as ecological security.

I will continue to serve God and country by helping build a strong nation to win the future for succeeding generations. Until my dying day, so help me God.
