Finally, Nurses are now seeing positive developments with the campaign of ANG NARS Partylist on FALSE VOLUNTEERISM AND TRAINING.
Just after the assertive revelation of how nurses are professionally mistreated in their workplaces, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III organized a group that is responsible to initiate assessments on the reports that a large fraction of Filipino nurses suffer from the towering "training" fees in hospitals to gain experience for their future employments.
DOLE AO No. 231 Series of 2016 was reconstituted to AO No. 231- B to conduct Special Assessment or Visit of Establishment of hospitals and medical institutions to assess, validate and verify compliance with general labor standards (GLS), occupational safety and health standards, and other pertinent labor laws and social legislations.
Dr. Leah S. Paquiz of ANG NARS was deputized as representative of Sec. Bello in the AO 231-B.
"May mga nurses diyan, they go to the hospitals to be trained, sila ang nagbabayad sa hospitals for the training! Anong klaseng patakaran yan?" Secretary Bello said.
"You go to the hospitals, there are OJTs working regular work, walang bayad kasi OJT. Ang tagal naman ng OJT yan." Bello further added.
Currently, DOLE is already on the move to set up a new department that will solely be dedicated for the monitoring and control of employment schemes of hospital workers.
