Starting first quarter of 2017, nurses must have 45 units of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs as a requirement for renewal of Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) identification card.
The Philippine Association of the Professional Regulatory Board Members Inc. (PAPRB) in cooperation with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) conducted the 5th Philippine Professional Summit at Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel last October 27, 2016.
Among other things, the Summit with the theme, “Professionals Going Global: Skills Mobility in the ASEAN and Beyond” aims to inform the professionals about the Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016 (R.A. 10912) and its impact on practice, regulation and related activities.
Program Manager of CPD Program Management Committee and Chair of CPD Council on Accountancy Mr. Gerard B. Sanvictores, CPA, discussed the effects of the new CPD Law on the practice of Professionals. His presentation was followed by an Open Forum addressing questions and taking suggestions for CPD Council to consider as they continue to work on the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR’s).
Representatives of Philippine Nursing Association were present in the Summit and disclosed that there are some proposals on the implementation of the requirements stated in the CPD law.
The PRC resolution is in compliance with the new CPD Law or the Republic Act 10912 entitled Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016. The measure sponsored by Senator Antonio Trillanes in the upper chamber, lapsed into law last July 21, 2016 after former President Benigno Aquino III neither signed or vetoed it.
