DOH: No IVT Requirement For Nurses In Hospitals

All the nursing leaders' efforts have finally been paid off. DOH officially announces that Hospitals should not consider an IVT ( Intravenous Therapy Training) a prerequisite for employment.

In a nutshell, Intravenous Therapy (IVT) training is primarily designed to ensure safe practice in intravenous therapy to uphold the quality of nursing practice.

However, it was further argued that the skills and knowledge of implementing intravenous therapies are already part of the basic nursing education, therefore paid training and certifications regarding the administration of intravenous therapy are not necessary.

The official page of ANG NARS Party-list posted in their facebook account:

"In support of BON Resolution No 38 series 2016, IVT trainings are NO LONGER REQUIRED prior to employment.

Reso 38 was drafted in cooperation with Nars Leah Paquiz of ANG NARS Party-list to remove the great burden nurses experience upon application for employment.

"As the PNA president in 2007, I broke the belief that IVT is a license. As I went all over the country, I informed and educated the nurses that we only have ONE LICENSE. It is the PRC License."
~Nars Leah S. Paquiz

Reso 38 was pushed by Nars Leah Paquiz with these specific provisions:

1. IVT must not be required as precondition for employment
2. It shall not be required regardless of the nature of employment
3. Composition of the in-service council for monitoring"
