Today's generation of Filipino nurses have seen eager and assertive protection, maintenance and advocacy of their rights and the laws covering their practice as professionals.
Just recently, the law covering the professional practice of nurses, including their responsibilities, compensations and benefits has been given a spotlight by lawmakers. As per ANG NARS update, here are the agenda that the group contemplates to retain in the Comprehensive Nursing Law of 2015:
Due to ANG NARS not having a seat in the 17th congress, there is a need to safeguard the purest intention of the CNL as principal authored by Rep. Paquiz during 16th Congress.
Here are the critical sections of CNL, of which we fought to retain:
1. We retained Salary Grade 15 as entry level for both government and PRIVATE institutions
2. We removed the MANDATORY membership to any nursing organization as requirement prior to Employment and prior to Advanced Practice Nursing
3. We retained the maximum of 1:12 nurse patient ratio in the general ward
This draft will be presented to the next Senate Committee Hearing as it is the version most beneficial to all Filipino Nurses and to public health.
