Be Stress-free!

Being a nurse can be overwhelming so it really is amazing when you overcome obstacles and become the best version of you. I want to share some tips with you on how to spend less while learning how to manage yourself in stressful situations.

Pause
We have this idea that being busy means that you are doing great and you are definitely productive. Not really. Not always at least. Once or twice a day, try to pause. Avoid noise and other interruptions for about 10-15 minutes. Take deep breaths for at least three or four times.

Remember to be mindful and appreciate the achievements you've done so far. This mental pause gives us clarity, helps to keep us sane and saves us from being impulsive.

Grab a fruit or drink water when you are stressed.
Yes, you'll have to remember buying fruits when doing the grocery but they totally come in handy when you are stressed. Fruits keep you calm, full. and will eliminate your stress-eating habits or minimize any impulsive junk food grabbing. It will save you a dollar or two and while also keeping you healthy.

Eat before your work out.
This is a no-brainer but keeping your body re-charged helps your muscles move efficiently. Eating before exercising will make you stay away from fastfood and other expensive habits.

Dance and use music as a therapy.
No, I am not a professional dancer so you can stop imagining me doing the salsa or a cartwheel. But seriously, choosing music as a way of de-stressing is really a good thing. It washes away your worries and negative thoughts. I advise you to choose the genre of music that you really enjoy, and dance it out like there’s no tomorrow. Plus, it's cheaper than going to the gym.

Read the book you’ve been longing to.
There are tons of online resources that you can use to save money. If e-books aren't your thing, then there are public libraries that you can utilize. Reading keeps your mind healthy and trains us to stay away from the internet which drains us or even takes our precious “me” time.

Make a spa day.
I am not telling you to spend tons of dollars on this one. Instead of going to fancy places to get a nice pedicure or a massage, you can create your own spa in your own home for less! Look for good moisturizers, foot scrubs and scented oils. Turn on some soft music and light up some candles.

Learn to cook.
When you don't want to spend money eating at restaurants and giving tips, cooking can be the best way to save. And of course, you can create more delicious meals at home! Create a grocery list, stick to it, cook by batch, freeze portions of foods. There are a lot of ways to be a domestic goddess and is a good way to de-stress.

Stress might be a part of our daily lives as a nurse but that does not mean you will have to live with it always! So, turn on the radio! Buy that shoes you've been longing for! Treat yourself to that cake! It would benefit you on the long run.
