All You Need To Know About The HAAD Exam

Nurses who wish to work in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates(UAE) would always encounter the word HAAD certificate as one of the major requirements. The emirate of Abu Dhabi requires all medical professionals who wish to work in their area of jurisdiction to be registered at Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD).

It aims to provide a solid foundation for licensing health professionals in Abu Dhabi by the use of assessment tools that measure core and specialist competencies required for each professional group.

The HAAD certificate gives a nurse or other medical workers the license to practice their profession in Abu Dhabi. Nurses who took and passed the HAAD-RN exam can legally be deployed in any private health care facilities in Abu Dhabi. In a lot of ways, the HAAD is similar to National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

The HAAD exam can be taken in any Pearson Vue testing centers, the same system that conducts the examination for NCLEX.

The HAAD-RN exam is composed of 150 multiple choice items. One must answer all questions in 180 minutes or 3 hours.

The test items in HAAD are quite similar to NCLEX so those who are about to take the HAAD exam can use the review materials for NCLEX. Nurses who have taken the HAAD-RN exam said that it is a lot easier than NCLEX. However, it doesn’t mean that it is very easy too. The questions in HAAD-RN exam aim to show the nurses’ basic and fundamental knowledge about the nursing profession.

All health-care professionals including doctors, technicians, dentists, pharmacists and traditional practitioners;  especially outside the UAE can now apply online for a medical license to work in the UAE. They can apply for the  fully operational online Examination & Evaluation System (EES), in their own country, thus reducing costs and time, with even the fee being paid electronically.

Applicants in UAE can pay at the Dataflow counters located at HAAD facilities while those outside of UAE can pay online through their credit cards. You can borrow from a family or friend if you don’t have one. Major credit card companies such as American Express, MasterCard and Visa are usually accepted.

The Dataflow processing fee is 600 AED and covers one education, one health license and relevant experience. For verification of additional educational qualification, an additional cost of 300 AED per document is required. Additional health license or employment certificate may be verified at an additional cost of 100 AED per document.

Examinees are given three attempts (in three separate applications) to pass the HAAD examination. If the candidate failed all the three attempts, he or she will have to wait 12 months from the last exam to be able to retake the exam.
